Why Solid Brass and a 15mm Head Matter When Stamping Ice

Not all ice stamps are built the same. The material, weight, thickness, and engraving depth all affect how cleanly a design transfers onto ice.

At FRINTIQ, our ice stamp uses a solid brass head measuring 15mm thick with an engraving depth of approximately 2.5mm. That combination gives the stamp more substance, stability, and thermal mass than a thin or lightweight head.

Why Solid Brass Works So Well

Brass is naturally dense and conducts heat efficiently. When the stamp is pressed onto ice, the warmer brass transfers heat into the surface of the cube, allowing the engraved design to melt into the ice.

A solid brass head also feels more substantial in the hand and helps create even contact across the face of the stamp.

Why the 15mm Thickness Matters

The thickness of the head adds weight and mass. Instead of relying entirely on pressure from your hand, the stamp itself helps do the work.

A thicker head also retains warmth longer, which can help create a cleaner impression when stamping multiple cubes.

Engraving Depth Makes a Difference Too

The FRINTIQ design is engraved approximately 2.5mm deep. A deeper engraving gives the pattern enough definition to create a visible impression without requiring excessive pressure.

For best results, use a solid, flat ice surface. Clear 2-inch cubes are ideal because they provide plenty of surface area and allow the stamped design to stand out.
